🚨 2017 Ferrari GTC4Lusso: Emergency Neutral

The 2017 GTC4Lusso uses a center console-mounted automatic transmission lever with Ferrari's F1-style dual-clutch system and electronic shift-lock.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and the parking brake is engaged (pull up the center console switch).
  2. Locate the shift-lock override slot on the right side of the shifter base, near the bottom of the shift lever assembly.
  3. Remove the small rubber or plastic cap covering the override slot by gently prying it with a flat tool.
  4. Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the emergency key blade fully into the override slot.
  5. While holding the screwdriver in the slot, press the brake pedal if any residual power exists, then move the shifter to Neutral.
  6. If no power exists at all, continue holding the override pressed and physically move the lever to N without the brake pedal.
  7. The shifter should click into Neutral; you may need to apply firm pressure while maintaining override engagement.
  8. Once in Neutral, the vehicle can roll freely—keep the override tool in place until ready to load onto flatbed.

With zero electrical power
With complete electrical failure, the shift-lock override still functions mechanically. Insert tool into override slot and apply firm pressure while moving the shifter—no brake pedal activation is required when using the manual override. The transmission will mechanically release into Neutral.
