🚨 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari: Emergency Neutral
The LaFerrari uses Ferrari's F1-style paddle-shift transmission with push-button selectors on the center console (Auto, R, Launch, Neutral).

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and wheels are chocked
- Turn the ignition to ON position (push START button without pressing brake pedal; if battery is completely dead, see no-power notes below)
- Press the brake pedal firmly
- Press and hold the NEUTRAL button on the center console (marked 'N' or with neutral symbol) for approximately 2-3 seconds until transmission confirms neutral engagement on the instrument cluster
- If the shift-lock prevents engagement due to failed brake-light switch, locate the small shift-lock override slot near the base of the center console transmission button panel
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the key blade into the override slot and push down while simultaneously pressing the NEUTRAL button
- Verify neutral engagement before attempting to move the vehicle
Shift-lock override location
Small override release slot located in the center console near the transmission button panel base; exact position may be covered by a small rubber cap or trim piece that must be pried up
With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the F1 dual-clutch transmission cannot be placed into neutral electronically. You MUST jump-start the 12V system or connect a battery maintainer to get sufficient power to energize the transmission control module and shifter electronics. The hybrid high-voltage system is separate but the 12V powers all vehicle control systems. Once 12V power is restored, follow normal neutral selection procedure. DO NOT attempt to force the transmission mechanically.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
LaFerrari is a hybrid with HY-KERS system. The high-voltage hybrid battery is separate from 12V systems. Even with HY-KERS disabled, you need 12V power for transmission control. CRITICAL: This vehicle must be transported on a flatbed truck with all wheels off the ground - the rear-wheel-drive F1 dual-clutch transmission will be damaged if rear wheels rotate while in neutral for extended distances. Short movements for loading are acceptable in neutral, but NO towing with wheels on ground.
