🚨 2024 Ferrari Purosangue: Emergency Neutral

The 2024 Purosangue uses Ferrari's push-button gear selector system mounted on the center console with buttons for R, Auto, and Manual modes plus paddle shifters.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and parking brake is engaged
  2. Locate the small circular shift lock override cover on the center console near the gear selector buttons
  3. Use a small flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the override cover
  4. Insert the mechanical key (found in the key fob) or a small screwdriver into the override slot
  5. While pressing down on the override, attempt to press the Auto button to enable neutral selection
  6. If 12V power is available but the shift lock won't release, have an assistant press the brake pedal while you override
  7. Once override is activated, the transmission should allow neutral engagement
  8. For flatbed loading without any power, the vehicle must be dollied or lifted with all wheels off the ground - consult Ferrari roadside assistance

With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the push-button system will not function. Jump-start the 12V battery using the front jump-start terminals (under front hood access panel) to restore minimal electrical power for gear selection. If jump-starting is not possible, vehicle must be loaded onto flatbed with all wheels off ground using wheel dollies.
