🚨 2026 Fiat Toro: Emergency Neutral
The 2026 Fiat Toro uses a traditional console-mounted automatic transmission lever with electronic shift lock integrated into the base assembly.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly set and wheels are chocked
- Turn the ignition to ON position if battery power is available (do not start engine)
- Locate the shift lock override access - look for a small rectangular cap or slot near the base of the shifter on the console, typically on the left or front side of the shifter mechanism
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to pry off the override cap
- Insert the screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pressing the brake pedal (if power available) and pulling the shifter toward Neutral
- If successful, the shifter should release and move to Neutral position
- If the vehicle must be moved a long distance, arrange for flatbed transport
Shift-lock override location
Console-mounted near shifter base, exact location requires visual confirmation - typically a small capped slot on the left or front side of shifter housing
With zero electrical power
With completely dead battery and no jump power available, the shift lock override may still be mechanically accessible. Locate and use the override slot as described. If the electronic shifter mechanism itself requires power and will not release mechanically, the vehicle must be flatbedded - do NOT attempt to force the shifter.
