🚨 2010 Ford F-150 Raptor: Emergency Neutral

The 2010 F-150 Raptor uses a column-mounted shifter lever with electronic shift lock integrated into the PRNDL mechanism.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on level ground and the parking brake is firmly applied
  2. Turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position if battery power is available
  3. Locate the shift lock override access - it is a small covered slot on the upper right side of the shifter shroud, just below where the lever pivots
  4. Use a small flathead screwdriver or the key blade to remove or pry up the small plastic cover
  5. Insert the screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pulling the shifter toward you and moving it to Neutral
  6. If the brake light switch has failed but the battery is good, you may also be able to shift normally by turning the key to ON
  7. Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be pushed or towed with the transfer case in 2H (for short distances) or with the driveshaft disconnected for flatbed transport

With zero electrical power
With a completely dead battery, you cannot turn the ignition key to ACC/ON. The shift lock override slot still functions mechanically - insert screwdriver into the override slot and apply firm pressure while moving the shifter to Neutral. The override physically releases the locking pawl without requiring any electrical power.
