The 2015 Ford Transit Connect uses a floor-mounted console shifter with a push-button release on the front of the lever.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly applied and the vehicle is securely chocked.
- Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine) if battery power is available.
- Locate the shift lock override access point—look for a small removable cap or slot directly adjacent to the shifter base on the right side or front-right corner of the console trim.
- Remove the cap using a flathead screwdriver or your fingernail.
- Insert a screwdriver, key, or similar tool into the override slot and press down while simultaneously pressing the shifter button and moving the lever to Neutral.
- If you need to roll the vehicle with the engine off, leave the ignition in the ON position to unlock the steering wheel (power steering will not assist).
Shift-lock override location
Small cap near the base of the shifter on the right side or front-right of the console; exact position may vary slightly by trim.
With zero electrical power
With zero battery power, you cannot turn the ignition to ON, and the steering wheel will remain locked. Use the shift lock override as described, applying firm downward pressure. The shifter may resist without electrical power to disengage the solenoid fully—steady, controlled force on both the override and shifter button is required. For a completely dead vehicle, a flatbed is safest; if dollies are used, ensure the front wheels (steering wheels) are on the dolly.
