🚨 2024 Genesis GV80: Emergency Neutral
The 2024 Genesis GV80 uses a traditional console-mounted electronic shifter with a button on the side for Park release.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Apply parking brake firmly and chock wheels
- Locate the shift lock release cover - it's a small rectangular cap on the left side of the shifter housing near the base
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the shift lock release cover
- Insert the key or a small screwdriver into the override slot revealed beneath the cover
- Press down firmly on the override while simultaneously pressing the brake pedal (if 12V power available) or while pulling the shifter toward you
- Move shifter to Neutral position
- If no 12V power: you may need to apply significant force to the override - the shifter should release mechanically
- Keep override depressed until shifter is fully in Neutral, then replace cover

With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the shift lock override is purely mechanical. You do not need brake pedal input - just press the override firmly while moving the shifter. The mechanism may feel stiff but should release. If the vehicle has electronic parking brake, you cannot release it without 12V power - use wheel chocks and ensure vehicle is on level ground before attempting neutral shift.
