The procedure
- Ensure parking brake is firmly engaged and wheels are chocked
- Turn ignition key to ACC or ON position if battery has any charge (this releases shift lock electronically)
- If ignition has no effect, locate the small shift lock override slot on the left side of the shifter base, adjacent to the shifter lever itself
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the vehicle key into the override slot
- Press down firmly on the override while simultaneously pressing the shifter button and moving the shifter to Neutral
- Keep pressure on override until shifter is fully in Neutral position
- Vehicle can now be pushed or winched onto flatbed
