The procedure
- Ensure parking brake is firmly engaged and wheels are chocked
- Turn ignition key to ACC or ON position if any battery power exists
- If no power or shift lock doesn't release, locate the shift lock override access on the left side of the shifter console base
- Remove any small trim cap if present using a flathead screwdriver
- Insert screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down firmly
- While maintaining pressure on override, press the shifter button and move shifter to Neutral
- Release override once shifter is secured in Neutral
- Vehicle is now ready for towing or pushing
