🚨 2019 GMC Savana: Emergency Neutral
The 2019 GMC Savana uses a column-mounted shifter lever with an electronic shift lock that has a mechanical override release.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Set the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels.
- Locate the shift lock override slot on the steering column, positioned below and slightly to the right of the shifter lever (covered by a small rectangular or oval plastic cap labeled with a lock/key icon).
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or your fingernail to carefully pry off the plastic cap.
- Insert a small screwdriver, key, or similar tool into the exposed override slot.
- Press down firmly on the tool while simultaneously pressing the shifter button and moving the lever to Neutral.
- Hold the override depressed until the shifter is fully seated in Neutral.
- The vehicle can now be moved or loaded onto a flatbed.

With zero electrical power
With no electrical power, the mechanical shift lock override still functions. You will not have power steering or power brakes, so the vehicle will be difficult to steer and will not brake effectively. Use a tow truck or flatbed for transport.
