🚨 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe: Emergency Neutral
The 2026 Santa Fe uses an electronic console-mounted shift lever with integrated push-button Park release.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Set the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels.
- Turn the ignition to ACC or ON position if battery has any charge remaining.
- Locate the shift lock override slot - it is a small rectangular access covered by a removable cap on the left side of the shifter base near the console trim.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to carefully pry off the override cap.
- Insert the key or screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pressing the brake pedal and moving the shifter to Neutral.
- If the battery is completely dead and the shifter will not release even with the override, you may need to jump-start the 12V battery first to provide minimal power to the shift lock solenoid.

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic shifter may remain completely locked. Attempt the override procedure, but if unsuccessful, jump-starting the 12V battery to provide minimal power is typically required to release the shift lock solenoid. Once in Neutral, disconnect the jump source before towing.
