🚨 2023 Infiniti QX60: Emergency Neutral

The 2023 QX60 uses a conventional center console shift lever with electronic shift-lock and push-button start.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and set the parking brake firmly.
  2. Turn the ignition to ON position (press start button twice without brake pedal, or use emergency key access if battery is completely dead).
  3. Locate the shift-lock override slot on the left side of the shifter base, beneath a small rectangular cap.
  4. Use a flat-blade screwdriver or the mechanical key to carefully pry off the override cap.
  5. Insert the screwdriver or key straight down into the override slot and press firmly downward while simultaneously pulling the shifter toward you out of Park.
  6. If successful, the shifter will move to Neutral; have an assistant hold the brake pedal if possible.
  7. If towing is needed, keep the shifter in Neutral and ensure the steering wheel is unlocked (may require turning ignition to ON periodically).
Shift-lock override location
Left side of the shifter base beneath a small rectangular plastic cap, approximately 15mm from the shifter itself.
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, you cannot activate the push-button start system electronically. You must either jump-start the battery or use a portable jump starter to provide enough power to cycle the ignition to ON (two presses without brake). The shift-lock override still requires the ignition system to be energized for steering unlock during towing. If completely unable to power the system, flatbed towing with drive wheels off the ground is required.
