🚨 2015 Jaguar F-Type: Emergency Neutral
The 2015 F-Type uses a traditional console-mounted shift lever with an electronic shift-by-wire system (ZF 8-speed automatic).

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and apply the parking brake if functional.
- Attempt to turn on the ignition by pressing the start button with the key fob present (battery may have enough power for accessories even if it won't start the engine).
- If you have accessory power, press and hold the brake pedal, then pull the shift lever toward you and move it forward or backward to Neutral position.
- If there is no power or the shift lever will not move due to a failed brake-light switch, locate the shift lock override slot on the driver's side of the shift lever base.
- Look for a small rectangular or round cover/cap on the left side of the shifter console trim near the base of the lever.
- Use a small flat-blade screwdriver or the metal key blade to carefully pry off the cover cap.
- Insert the screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down firmly.
- While holding the override down, move the shift lever to the Neutral position.
- If the vehicle has absolutely no electrical power and the shift lever remains locked, the electronic transmission may not release; jump-start the battery to gain accessory power, or use a flatbed for transport.

With zero electrical power
With zero electrical power, the shift-by-wire system may not release the transmission park pawl even with the mechanical override engaged. Jump-starting the 12V battery to restore accessory power is recommended. If this is not possible, the vehicle should be loaded onto a flatbed with the rear wheels on dollies or all wheels off the ground (rear-wheel drive model, AWD available).
