🚨 2026 Jaguar F-Type: Emergency Neutral

The 2026 F-Type uses a rotary gear selector dial that rises from the center console when the ignition is on.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake fully
  2. Attempt to turn the ignition to ON/RUN position to power the rotary shifter
  3. If battery is dead, you will need to jump-start the 12V battery or connect a portable jump pack to access the shifter electronics
  4. Once power is restored, press the brake pedal firmly
  5. Rotate the gear selector dial counterclockwise to N (Neutral)
  6. If the rotary dial will not move due to shift interlock failure with power available, locate the shift lock override
  7. The override access is typically found in a small covered slot or panel near the base of the center console around the rotary dial - pry up any cover carefully
  8. Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the key blade into the override slot and press down while rotating the dial to N
  9. Vehicle can now be moved or loaded onto flatbed

With zero electrical power
The rotary shifter is electronically controlled and requires 12V power to operate. You must jump-start the battery or connect a power source to shift out of Park. Without any power, the transmission remains mechanically locked in Park and the vehicle cannot be shifted to Neutral.
