🚨 2025 Jeep Wagoneer: Emergency Neutral
The 2025 Wagoneer uses an electronic console-mounted shifter with a traditional PRND gate and electronic shift lock.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and set the parking brake if it functions
- Turn the ignition to ON/RUN position if 12V power is available (do not start engine)
- Firmly press and hold the brake pedal
- Locate the shift lock override slot - it is a small rectangular slot with a cover cap on the left side of the shifter base, near the driver's side
- Use a flathead screwdriver or the key blade to pry off the small plastic cap covering the override slot
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, move the shifter to Neutral
- If successful, the shifter will move freely to N; release the override and remove the tool

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the shift lock override will still function mechanically. Follow the same override procedure - the override is a mechanical release that does not require electrical power. However, you will not be able to turn the ignition to ON position; proceed directly to removing the override cap and using the override slot while an assistant pulls the shifter.
