The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and chock all wheels before proceeding.
- Attempt to restore 12V power by jump-starting the 12V battery located under the hood—the push-button shifter requires electrical power to operate.
- Once power is restored, turn the ignition to ON (press the start button without pressing the brake), then press the Neutral button on the shifter.
- If 12V power cannot be restored, locate the mechanical shift lock override: open the small plastic cover on the lower driver's side of the center console, just forward and to the left of the shifter button panel.
