🚨 2013 Lamborghini Gallardo: Emergency Neutral

The 2013 Gallardo uses a traditional console-mounted automatic shifter with a manual shift-lock override release.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on a level surface or properly chocked.
  2. Remove the small plastic cover cap located on the center console directly adjacent to the shifter base (typically on the left or front side of the shifter gate).
  3. Insert a flathead screwdriver or similar tool into the exposed shift-lock override slot.
  4. While pressing down firmly on the override release, press the brake pedal if any electrical power is available, and move the shifter to neutral.
  5. If no electrical power is available, continue to hold the override release down while manually moving the shifter through its gate to neutral without pressing the brake.
  6. Replace the override cover cap after successfully shifting to neutral.
Shift-lock override location
Small plastic cap near the shifter base on the center console, typically forward or to the left of the shifter gate; exact location may vary slightly between LP550-2 and LP560-4 variants.
With zero electrical power
With a completely dead battery, the shift-lock override still functions mechanically. Use the override slot as described, applying firm downward pressure while moving the shifter. The key does not need to be in any position for the mechanical override to work.
