🚨 2022 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque: Emergency Neutral
The 2022 Evoque uses a rotary dial shifter (Terrain Response dial) that rises from the center console when the vehicle is started.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Locate the shift lock override access - it is a small circular cover approximately 1 inch in diameter located on the center console surface just behind and to the right of the rotary shifter dial
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the circular override cover
- With the ignition in ACC or ON position (if possible), press firmly down into the exposed override slot with a pen, screwdriver, or similar tool
- While holding the override down, rotate the shift dial counterclockwise to the N (Neutral) position
- If the battery is completely dead and the dial will not rise, you must jump-start the vehicle or connect a battery charger to get any power to the shifter mechanism - the rotary dial requires electrical power to operate
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be moved, but keep the override tool pressed if the shifter tries to return to Park

With zero electrical power
The rotary dial shifter is entirely electronic and requires at least some 12V power to function. With zero power, the shifter dial will not rise and cannot be moved. You must provide external power (jump box, jumper cables, or battery charger) to at least ACC mode before the override procedure will work. If this is not possible, the vehicle must be winched onto a flatbed with all wheels off the ground.
