The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake if functional.
- Press the START/STOP button without pressing the brake pedal to turn ignition to Accessory/ON mode and allow the rotary dial to rise.
- Press and hold the brake pedal, then rotate the dial to Neutral (N).
- If the dial will not move due to a failed shift interlock, locate the shift lock override - look for a small circular or rectangular cap near the base of the rotary shifter housing.
- Remove the override cap using a trim removal tool or small flathead screwdriver.
- Insert the mechanical key blade or a small tool into the override slot and press/hold while rotating the dial to Neutral.
- If the vehicle has no 12V power and the override does not enable movement, jump-start the 12V battery to restore power to the shifter system.
