The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake if functional.
- Press the START/STOP button without the brake pedal to activate Accessory or ON mode, allowing the rotary dial to rise from the console.
- Press and hold the brake pedal, then rotate the selector dial to Neutral (N).
- If the dial will not rotate due to shift interlock, locate the shift lock override access - look for a small cap or cover near the base of the rotary dial assembly.
- Use a trim tool or small flathead screwdriver to carefully remove the override cap.
- Insert the mechanical key blade or a thin tool into the override slot and press/hold while attempting to rotate the dial to Neutral.
