🚨 2020 Lexus LC 500h: Emergency Neutral
The 2020 LC 500h uses an electronic shift-by-wire system with a small console-mounted lever that returns to center position after each shift selection.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and chock all wheels securely.
- If the 12V battery has any charge, turn the power mode to ON (press brake and push START button without starting the hybrid system).
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly.
- Press the shift lock override button located on the left side of the shifter base—there is a small rectangular cover that can be pried up with a flat tool to access the override button underneath.
- While holding the override button and brake pedal, move the shifter to N (neutral).
- If the 12V battery is completely dead, you must jump-start or charge the battery enough to power the shift control module before the shifter will release.
- Once in neutral with power available, the vehicle can be pushed or towed with all wheels on the ground at low speed for SHORT distances only.

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic shifter cannot be moved. You must provide at least minimal 12V power via jump-start or battery charger to energize the shift control system. The override button requires electrical power to function.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
CRITICAL: The LC 500h is a HYBRID with complex drivetrain components. FLATBED TOWING ONLY is strongly recommended. If you must move the vehicle with wheels down, it must be in N (neutral) with the hybrid system in READY mode or tow mode activated, and only for very short distances at walking speed. Towing with wheels on the ground without proper neutral engagement can cause severe damage to the hybrid transaxle and electric motors. Consult the owner's manual tow mode procedure before attempting any flat-tow.
