🚨 2011 Lexus LS 600h: Emergency Neutral
The 2011 LS 600h uses a traditional console-mounted gate-style automatic shifter with electronic shift lock.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly.
- Turn the ignition to ACC or ON position if you have any 12V power available (this may allow normal shifting with brake pedal depressed).
- If you have NO power or the shift lock is still engaged, locate the shift lock override slot—it is a small rectangular opening with a cover cap on the left side of the shifter base, near the driver's side.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to pry off the small rectangular cover cap.
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pulling the shifter toward you out of Park.
- Move the shifter to Neutral.
- If the hybrid system can be powered on, press the Power button without touching the brake pedal to enable accessory mode, then press and hold the Power button for several seconds to engage tow mode (consult owner's manual for exact procedure).
- Verify the shifter remains in Neutral and the vehicle can roll freely before loading.
Shift-lock override location
Left side of the shifter base, covered by a small rectangular cap; the override slot is directly beneath this cap.
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the shift lock override is your only option—follow the override slot procedure. The steering wheel will remain locked, so the vehicle MUST be loaded onto a flatbed with wheels free to roll. Do not attempt to tow with drive wheels on the ground.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
HYBRID CRITICAL: The LS 600h is AWD with electric motors at both axles. NEVER tow this vehicle with any wheels on the ground—flatbed transport ONLY. Rotating the wheels without the hybrid system in tow mode can generate electricity back into the system and cause severe damage to the hybrid transaxle and inverter. If the 12V battery is dead, you cannot engage tow mode; the vehicle must be dollied or flatbedded with all wheels off the ground.
