The 2025 UX 200 uses an electronic shifter with a small console-mounted lever and push-button Park release.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on level ground
- Turn the ignition to ACC or ON mode (press START button without brake pedal)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Locate the shift lock override slot—it is a small covered slot near the base of the shifter console, typically on the right side or front edge
- Remove the cover cap by prying gently with a flathead screwdriver or your fingernail
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver, key, or similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, move the shift lever to Neutral
- If the electronic shifter remains unresponsive, the vehicle may require a jump-start to provide minimal 12V power to release the shift lock
Shift-lock override location
Small covered slot near the shifter base on the console, typically right side or forward edge—consult owner's manual for exact position as electronic shifters vary
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic shifter will NOT release even with the override—you must provide minimal battery voltage via jump pack or jumper cables to energize the shift lock solenoid before the override will function. If jumping is impossible, flatbed towing with rear wheels lifted is required.
