🚨 2023 Lincoln Corsair: Emergency Neutral

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and set the parking brake if functional.
- Locate the shift lock override slot on the center console near the shifter assembly—look for a small rectangular cover/cap typically positioned to the right or below the shift buttons.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the override cover cap.
- Insert the vehicle key, a flathead screwdriver, or a similar rigid tool into the exposed override slot.
- While pressing down firmly on the override mechanism, attempt to select Neutral by pressing the appropriate shift button (if 12V power is available) or manually engage the transmission release.
- If the vehicle has absolutely no 12V power, the electronic shifter will not function—you must establish at least minimal 12V power (jump-start the 12V battery or connect a power supply) to electronically select Neutral.
- Once Neutral is engaged and confirmed on the instrument cluster (or by ability to roll the vehicle), release the override tool and the vehicle can be moved.

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic shifter is completely inoperable.
