🚨 2018 McLaren 600LT: Emergency Neutral
The 600LT uses a push-button transmission selector on the center console with separate P, R, N, D buttons and no traditional shifter lever.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and wheels are chocked
- If the 12V battery has any charge, turn the ignition to ON position (press start button without brake pedal)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Press the 'N' (Neutral) button on the center console transmission selector
- If the transmission does not respond and you have partial electrical power, try cycling the ignition off and back on, then repeat the N button press
- If moving to a flatbed with zero electrical power and the transmission is stuck in Park, the vehicle must be winched or dollied onto the flatbed - do NOT attempt to force movement
- Once on the flatbed, ensure parking brake is released if possible (electronic parking brake requires 12V power to release)
With zero electrical power
With a completely dead 12V battery, the McLaren 600LT transmission will remain locked in Park with no mechanical shift-lock override accessible to the operator. The electronic parking brake will also remain engaged. Jump-starting the 12V battery (located in the front luggage compartment) is required to shift to neutral. If jump-starting is not possible, the vehicle must be loaded onto a flatbed using wheel dollies or dragged with wheels locked - McLaren does NOT provide a user-accessible mechanical park release on this model.
