🚨 2026 McLaren Artura: Emergency Neutral
The 2026 Artura uses a push-button transmission selector on the center console with separate buttons for P, R, N, and D.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake if functional
- Locate the 12V battery access in the front luggage compartment (frunk) and connect a jump pack or donor vehicle to provide temporary power
- With 12V power restored, turn the ignition to ON mode (press start button without brake pedal)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Press the 'N' (Neutral) button on the center console transmission selector
- If the transmission does not engage neutral electronically, locate the shift lock override access - on McLarens this is typically a small covered slot near the transmission button assembly on the center console
- Remove the rubber cover or cap over the override slot
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the tool from the vehicle toolkit into the override slot
- While holding the override down, press the N button to mechanically release the shift lock
- Verify the gear indicator shows 'N' before attempting to move the vehicle
Shift-lock override location
Small covered slot near the transmission button assembly on the center console, typically between or adjacent to the P/R/N/D buttons
With zero electrical power
Without any 12V power, the electronic transmission cannot be shifted. You MUST provide external 12V power via the front battery terminals to operate any transmission functions. The Artura's electronic systems require power to release the shift lock even with the mechanical override.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
The Artura is a plug-in hybrid with a high-voltage battery system. NEVER tow with drive wheels on the ground - this can cause catastrophic damage to the electric motor and inverter. Use flatbed transport ONLY. Engage Transport/Tow mode through the vehicle settings (requires 12V power and ignition ON) before loading onto flatbed. Do not attempt to push or dolly-tow this vehicle.
