The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the parking brake is firmly applied.

- Locate the shift lock override—on W206 C-Class models, look for a small cover cap near the base of the shifter console (typically on the right side or front edge); pry it up with a flathead screwdriver or trim tool.
