🚨 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQB: Emergency Neutral
The 2023 EQB uses a small electronic console-mounted shifter lever with a direct-select interface (push forward for R, pull back for D, button on end for P).

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake if possible.
- If the 12V battery has any charge, turn the ignition to ON (press start button without brake pedal).
- Press and hold the brake pedal.
- Press the P button on the end of the shifter stalk to release parking pawl, then move shifter to N position (center position).
- If the 12V battery is completely dead, you must jump-start the 12V system or connect an external 12V power source to access the electronic shifter - there is no mechanical override to shift this electronic transmission.
- Once in neutral with power, the vehicle can roll; without power it remains locked in Park.
With zero electrical power
The EQB electric drivetrain uses an electronic parking pawl with no mechanical shift-lock override. You MUST provide 12V power (jump pack, jump-start from another vehicle, or external battery) to energize the shifter system before you can select neutral. The 12V battery is located in the rear cargo area under the floor. Connect power, turn ignition ON, then shift to N.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
FLATBED TOW ONLY when locked in Park without power. The electric motor is mechanically connected to the wheels - towing with drive wheels on the ground will cause severe drivetrain damage and pose a fire risk. If you cannot provide 12V power to shift to neutral, the vehicle must be loaded onto a flatbed with all wheels off the ground or using wheel dollies. Do not attempt to tow this vehicle with any wheels rotating.
