The procedure
- Verify the actual model and year of your vehicle - the EQC was discontinued after 2023
- If this is actually an EQC (2020-2023), follow the procedure for those model years
- If this is a different Mercedes EV (EQE, EQS, EQB, etc.), consult that model's specific procedure
- For EQC models that do exist: ensure vehicle is on flat surface with parking brake applied
- Turn ignition to ON if 12V power available (press Start without brake pedal)
- Locate shift-lock override in center console area (see confidence notes)
- Jump-start the 12V battery if no power available - it's in the cargo area under the floor panel

The EQC (when it was produced) requires 12V power for the electronic shifter to function. The 12V battery must be jump-started from the cargo area access point. Without power, the shifter electronics are completely inoperative.
