🚨 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC63 AMG: Emergency Neutral
The 2023 GLC63 AMG uses a column-mounted electronic gear selector stalk on the right side of the steering column.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the parking brake is engaged.
- Remove the small rectangular cover cap on the center console to the right of the steering column base (near the cupholders).
- Insert a flathead screwdriver or the key blade into the shift lock override slot beneath the cap.
- While pressing down on the override, press the brake pedal (if 12V power is available) and move the gear selector stalk down to N.
- If no power is available, continue holding the override down while attempting to move the selector to N—you may need an assistant to help manipulate the stalk.
- If the electronic selector will not respond at all, the vehicle must be placed on a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground.
Shift-lock override location
Center console area near the cupholders, under a small rectangular cover cap—access requires removal of the cap to reveal the shift lock override slot.
With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the electronic gear selector may not function even with the shift lock override released. The transmission may default to Park electronically. Attempt the override procedure, but be prepared for the selector to remain non-functional. Flatbed towing with all wheels off the ground is the safest method.
