🚨 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE43 AMG: Emergency Neutral
The 2025 GLE43 AMG uses a column-mounted electronic shifter stalk on the right side of the steering column.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and parking brake is applied
- Turn the ignition to ON position (press START button without brake pedal, or use jump pack if battery is dead)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Move the shifter stalk down past Drive positions to engage Neutral (one position down from Park)
- If shift interlock prevents movement, locate the shift lock override access panel on the center console near the shifter base
- Remove the small cover panel (it may be under a rubber mat or trim piece in the console)
- Insert a flathead screwdriver or key into the override slot and press down while moving the shifter stalk to Neutral
- Once in Neutral, release the parking brake to allow the vehicle to roll
Shift-lock override location
The shift lock override is typically accessed via a small panel or slot in the center console area near the base of the electronic shifter controls, though the 2025 model may integrate this differently due to the column-mounted stalk design.
With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, you must provide external power via jump pack or jumper cables to energize the electrical system enough to release the electronic shifter. The shifter is fully electronic and requires some electrical power to disengage from Park. If no power source is available, the vehicle must be placed on a flatbed with wheels free-rolling (not winched in Park).
