The procedure
- Set the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels.
- Locate the shift-lock override slot, which is a small rectangular opening on the left side of the column shroud near the shifter base.
- Remove the plastic cover cap from the override slot by prying gently with a flat-blade screwdriver.
- Insert a flat-blade screwdriver or similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly.
- While holding the override down, move the shift lever out of Park into Neutral.
- Remove the tool and verify the shifter stays in Neutral before attempting to move the vehicle.
