The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and chocked appropriately.
- Turn the ignition to ON/RUN position if you have any 12V power available (this allows the transmission computer to respond).
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly.
- Push the shifter lever forward and hold for 2 seconds to engage N (Neutral).
- If the vehicle has no electrical power, the transmission will NOT disengage from Park electronically—you must restore 12V power via jump-start or battery replacement to shift.
- Once 12V power is restored and N is selected, the vehicle can roll freely.
