🚨 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT: Emergency Neutral
The 1991 Mitsubishi 3000GT uses a traditional console-mounted automatic shifter lever with a mechanical shift-lock solenoid.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and chocked appropriately.
- Turn the ignition to ON/ACC position if possible (does not need to start).
- Locate the shift-lock override access: on the left side of the shifter base, there is a small rectangular cover/slot.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off or open the cover.
- Insert the screwdriver into the override slot and press down or push forward (depending on exact mechanism—it releases the lock pawl).
- While holding the override tool in place, press the shifter button on the side of the lever and move the shifter to N (Neutral).
- Remove the tool and replace the cover.
- Verify the gear indicator shows N; the vehicle can now roll.

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the mechanical shift-lock override still functions. Follow the override procedure: remove the cover, insert tool into the slot, press/push to release the lock, and shift to Neutral. The 3000GT's shift-lock is mechanical and does not require electrical power to override. Be aware you will have no power steering or brake assist.
