🚨 2011 Nissan Juke: Emergency Neutral
The 2011 Juke (first generation) uses a console-mounted CVT shifter with electronic shift lock controlled by the brake pedal switch.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Apply the parking brake and chock the wheels
- Turn the ignition key to ON or ACC position (engine does not need to run)
- Press and hold the brake pedal
- Press the shift lock button on the shifter (if present) and move to N
- If the brake switch has failed or there is no power: locate the shift lock override cover
- The override access is typically a small rectangular cap on the console near the shifter base, usually forward or to the right of the shifter
- Pry off the cap with a small flathead screwdriver or trim tool
- Insert a screwdriver, key, or similar tool into the override slot and press down
- While holding the override down, move the shifter from P to N

With zero electrical power
With no 12V power, the shift lock will be engaged. Use the manual shift lock override: remove the cap near the shifter, insert a tool into the slot, press down firmly, and shift to N. The CVT is designed to freewheel in N for towing.
