The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and wheel chocks are in place
- Locate the 12V battery in the engine bay and connect a jump pack or jumper cables to restore electrical power
- Turn the ignition to ON (press start button twice without brake pedal, or use emergency key access)
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Press the 'N' (Neutral) button or move the shifter to Neutral position
- If the electronic shifter still will not engage Neutral, the vehicle MUST be transported on a flatbed with all wheels off the ground
- Do NOT attempt to tow with any wheels on the ground - hybrid/AWD drivetrain damage will occur
With zero electrical power
Without any 12V power, the electronic shifter cannot be moved to Neutral. You MUST provide 12V power via jump pack or jumper cables to the battery terminals before the shifter will function. There is no mechanical shift-lock override on this hybrid electronic shifter system.
