The procedure
- Set the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels
- Turn the ignition key to the ACC or ON position if possible (provides power to release the shift lock)
- Press the brake pedal firmly
- Locate the shift lock override slot on the left side of the steering column, just below and behind the shift lever
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or key into the override slot
- Push the override in while simultaneously pulling the shift lever toward you and down into Neutral
- Remove the screwdriver and verify the vehicle is in Neutral

With zero electrical power
