🚨 2021 Peugeot 3008: Emergency Neutral
The 2021 Peugeot 3008 Hybrid uses a monostable electronic shifter lever that returns to center position after each gear selection.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on level ground
- Locate the shift lock override slot, typically found as a small rectangular cover near the base of the shifter console on the driver's side
- Use a flat-blade screwdriver or the key blade to carefully pry off the small cover cap
- Insert the screwdriver or a similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, press the brake pedal if 12V power is available, or have an assistant attempt to move the shifter
- Move the shifter to the Neutral position (push forward once from Park)
- If no electrical power is available, the electronic shifter may not mechanically release; verify the 12V battery has some charge or jump-start the 12V system temporarily
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be rolled or loaded
Shift-lock override location
Small rectangular cover near the base of the shifter console on the driver's side; exact position may vary but typically forward or to the right of the shifter base
With zero electrical power
The Peugeot 3008 Hybrid's electronic shifter requires at least minimal 12V power to disengage the shift lock mechanism. With completely dead 12V battery, jump-starting the 12V system (not the high-voltage hybrid battery) is typically required to access Neutral. The small 12V battery is located in the engine bay.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
HYBRID WARNING: This vehicle has both a high-voltage hybrid system and a conventional 12V battery. Ensure the hybrid system is OFF (vehicle fully shut down). The 12V battery controls the shift lock. For flatbed towing, all wheels should be off the ground or use a dolly for the driven wheels. Do NOT tow with front wheels on the ground for extended distances as the electric motor and transmission can be damaged even in Neutral. Consult the owner's manual for maximum neutral-towing distance if applicable.
