The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on level ground and apply the parking brake firmly
- Turn the ignition to ON position (or press START button without brake pedal to activate accessory mode)
- Locate the shift lock override slot on the left side of the shifter base, covered by a small rectangular plastic cap
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to carefully pry off the override cap
- Insert the key blade or screwdriver into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pulling the shift lever back toward N
- The shifter should release and allow movement to Neutral
- If successful, the vehicle can now be moved or towed with front wheels on the ground (up to 50 miles at moderate speeds per Porsche guidelines)
