🚨 2017 Porsche 911 GT3 RS: Emergency Neutral
The 991.1 GT3 RS uses a PDK dual-clutch transmission with a short console-mounted shifter lever featuring a traditional gate pattern (P-R-N-D/S with manual positions).

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on level ground or properly secured
- Turn the ignition to ON/accessory position (if battery has any charge) by pressing the start button without pressing the brake pedal
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Locate the shift lock override slot on the left side of the shifter base, below the shifter boot - it may be covered by a small rectangular cap that pries off
- Using a flathead screwdriver or similar tool, insert it into the override slot and press down while simultaneously pulling the shifter back from P to N
- If the shifter will not move from P to N with the override, you may need to apply slight forward pressure on the shifter while pressing the override release
- Once in N, the vehicle can be rolled or winched onto a flatbed
Shift-lock override location
Left side of shifter base, below the shifter boot - typically a small rectangular slot that may have a cap cover
With zero electrical power
With zero electrical power, the PDK transmission defaults to Park and the shift lock remains engaged. The mechanical override bypass is the only method. If the override slot is not accessible or does not work, the vehicle must be flatbedded with wheels up or dollied - do NOT attempt to tow with rear wheels on the ground as the PDK will not lubricate properly without power.
