🚨 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS: Emergency Neutral
The 992 generation GT3 RS uses a PDK dual-clutch transmission with a stubby console-mounted shifter lever similar to the 991 design, featuring P-R-N-D/S positions.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the parking brake is firmly engaged and the vehicle is on level ground or properly secured
- Turn the ignition to ON/accessory position (if battery has any charge) by pressing the start button without pressing the brake pedal
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Locate the shift lock override access - on 992 models this is typically found by removing a small cover/cap on the left side of the shifter base or within the center console trim near the shifter
- Using a flathead screwdriver or the tool from the vehicle toolkit, insert it into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, pull the shifter rearward from P to N
- Once in N, the vehicle can be rolled or winched onto a flatbed
Shift-lock override location
Left side of shifter base area - look for a small removable cap or access point in the console trim adjacent to the shifter; exact location varies within 992 production
With zero electrical power
With complete electrical failure, the PDK transmission locks in Park. The mechanical shift lock override is the only solution. If the override mechanism fails or is inaccessible, the vehicle MUST be flatbedded with rear wheels off the ground or on dollies. Never tow a PDK-equipped 911 with drive wheels down when the transmission has no power - severe transmission damage will result from lack of lubrication.
