The 2025 Cayenne S uses a traditional console-mounted automatic shifter lever with electronic shift-lock.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly
- Turn the ignition to ON position (press START button without brake pedal) if 12V power is available
- Locate the shift-lock override slot: it is a small rectangular opening with a plastic cover on the left side of the shifter base, near the console trim
- Use a flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to pry off the small plastic cover
- Insert the key blade or screwdriver into the exposed override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, press the brake pedal (if power available) and move the shifter to Neutral
- If no power is available and the override alone doesn't release the shifter, you may need to provide temporary 12V power to the vehicle via jump pack or jumper cables to energize the shifter mechanism

With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the electronic shifter may not release even with the mechanical override engaged. Provide temporary 12V power via jump pack or jumper cables to the battery, then use the override procedure. The shifter requires some electrical power to unlock fully.
