🚨 2013 Porsche Cayenne Turbo: Emergency Neutral
The 2013 Cayenne Turbo uses a traditional center console automatic shifter with an electronic shift lock tied to the brake pedal and ignition.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Engage the parking brake firmly and chock the wheels
- Turn the ignition to ON position (or ACC if battery is weak but not completely dead)
- Locate the small rectangular shift lock override cover on the left side of the shifter base, near the driver's side edge of the console
- Use a small flathead screwdriver or trim tool to carefully pry off the override cover
- Press and hold the shift lock override button inside the cavity with the screwdriver
- While holding the override button, move the shifter to Neutral without pressing the brake pedal
- If ignition will not turn on due to dead battery, see no-power notes below

With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the steering lock will not release and ignition cannot turn on. You must jump-start the vehicle or connect a battery maintainer to gain enough power to turn ignition to ON position, then use the shift lock override. If jump-starting is impossible, the vehicle must be winched onto a flatbed with front wheels on dollies or dragged - the transmission can handle brief flat-towing in N but steering will be locked.
