The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly.
- Attempt to power on the ignition by pressing the start button twice without pressing the brake pedal (this may provide enough power to release the shift lock).

- Move the shifter rearward to Neutral position.
- If the shifter will not move due to shift lock, locate the shift lock override access: look for a small rectangular or circular cover cap on the console near the shifter base, typically on the left side or front-left of the shifter.
