🚨 2023 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid: Emergency Neutral
The 2023 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid uses a center console-mounted electronic shift lever (Tiptronic S selector) with P-R-N-D positions.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly using the electronic parking brake switch (pull and hold).
- Turn the ignition to ON position if 12V power is available (do not start the hybrid system).
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly.
- Locate the shift lock override access - on the center console to the left side of the shifter base, there is a small rectangular cover cap.
- Use a flathead screwdriver or similar tool to carefully pry off the override cover cap.
- Insert the metal key blade or a small screwdriver into the override slot and press down while simultaneously moving the shifter to Neutral.
- If the vehicle has no electrical power, you must use the manual shift lock override - the shifter will not release electronically without 12V power to the body control systems.
- Once in Neutral, the vehicle can be rolled or winched onto a flatbed.

With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the shift lock override is mechanical. You must manually access the override slot (left side of shifter base under cap) and use physical pressure with the key or tool to release the shifter into Neutral. The electronic parking brake may not release without power - see owner's manual for emergency EPB release procedure, which typically involves a tool access point in the rear cargo area or rear wheel well.
⚡ EV / hybrid warning
HYBRID VEHICLE - FLATBED TOW ONLY. Do not tow with drive wheels on the ground. The electric motor and PDK transmission can be damaged by towing in any gear other than Neutral, and even in Neutral, flatbed is required to prevent damage to hybrid drive components. If the high-voltage system is active or damaged, do not attempt to shift - contact Porsche roadside assistance.
