🚨 2016 Porsche Panamera GTS: Emergency Neutral

The 2016 Panamera GTS uses a center console-mounted PDK shifter lever with electronic shift-lock and a physical manual override.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and apply the parking brake firmly (pull handle upward until it clicks)
  2. Turn the ignition to the ON position if 12V power is available (do not start engine)
  3. Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
  4. If the shifter still won't move from Park, locate the shift-lock override access: look for a small rectangular cover/cap on the left side of the shifter base near the driver's side
  5. Use a flathead screwdriver or trim tool to carefully pry off the override cover
  6. Insert a small flathead screwdriver or similar tool into the override slot and press down firmly
  7. While holding the override down, press the release button on the shifter and move the lever rearward to Neutral
  8. If moving to a flatbed, keep the override pressed and shift to Neutral, then release; the vehicle can now roll freely
Shift-lock override location
Small rectangular access cover on the left side of the PDK shifter base (driver's side), near where the shifter meets the console; remove cover to access override slot
With zero electrical power
With no 12V power, the shift-lock override is mandatory. The override is purely mechanical and does not require battery power. You will not be able to turn the ignition to ON position, but the override slot will still function to release the shifter mechanically.
