🚨 2010 Porsche Panamera Turbo: Emergency Neutral

The 2010 Panamera Turbo uses a center console-mounted automatic shifter lever with electronic shift-by-wire control via the PDK dual-clutch transmission.

Expert-verified by Chris Hackleman & Jeff Moore — master technicians, 20+ years each.
⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.

The procedure

  1. Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and apply the parking brake firmly (or have wheel chocks ready).
  2. Locate the shift lock override slot: it is a small covered opening on the left side of the shifter base on the center console.
  3. Using a small flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade, carefully pry off the small rubber or plastic cap covering the override slot.
  4. Insert the screwdriver or key blade into the override slot and press down firmly while simultaneously pulling the shifter back toward 'N' (neutral).
  5. Once in neutral, the vehicle can be rolled or loaded onto a flatbed.
  6. If the 12V battery is accessible and you can provide temporary power (jump pack or jumper cables), you may be able to shift normally by turning the ignition to 'ON' and depressing the brake pedal.

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the shift lock override is still mechanical—use the override slot with a screwdriver or key blade as described. The PDK transmission will mechanically release the shifter to allow movement to neutral. Do NOT attempt to shift into any gear other than neutral without power.
