🚨 2026 Porsche Panamera: Emergency Neutral
The 2026 Panamera is expected to continue the center console-mounted electronic shift lever design, though a next-generation model may introduce changes.

⚠️ Chock the wheels first — neutral means the car can roll. Set the parking brake while you work, never stand downhill of the vehicle, and try a 12-volt jump before any override: power fixes most stuck-in-park problems instantly.
The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake (if functional)
- Turn the ignition to ON position if 12V battery power is available
- Locate the shift-lock override slot, typically on the left side of the shifter base beneath a small cover
- Use a flathead screwdriver or the metal key blade to remove the cover cap
- Insert the tool into the override slot and press down firmly
- While holding the override down, press the brake pedal (if power available) and move the shifter to Neutral
- If no power, continue holding the override and physically move the shifter to N
- Release the override tool once the shifter is in Neutral position
- Verify the gear position indicator shows N (if display has power)
Shift-lock override location
Typically left side of shifter base under a small cover; exact location should be verified as 2026 model details are not yet confirmed
With zero electrical power
With completely dead 12V battery, the shift-lock override should function mechanically on PDK-equipped models. Use the metal key blade or flathead screwdriver in the override slot. The shifter should move to Neutral without electrical power, but displays will not function.
