The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and chocked if possible
- Access the 12V battery in the front trunk (frunk) - if completely dead, you may need to use the emergency jump-start terminals under the front hood release area
- If the 12V system can be powered (jump-start or charged battery), turn on the ignition by pressing the start button without brake pedal depressed
- Press and hold the brake pedal firmly
- Move the gear selector to N (neutral) position - the selector moves from P backward through R to N
- If the shifter remains locked with 12V power present, locate the small shift lock override slot - it is typically accessed by removing a small trim panel or cap near the base of the shifter on the console
- Insert a small flathead screwdriver or the emergency key blade into the override slot and press down while moving the selector to N
- Once in neutral, the vehicle can be moved or loaded onto a flatbed

With zero electrical power
With zero 12V power, the Taycan's electronic shifter will not function. You must first jump-start the 12V system using the terminals accessible through the front compartment. The Taycan has jump-start posts under a cover in the front - follow the emergency jump-start procedure in the owner's manual. Without any 12V power, the transmission cannot be shifted and the parking pawl remains engaged.
