The procedure
- Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and apply the parking brake if functional.
- Turn the ignition key to ACC or ON position if possible.
- Locate the shift-lock override slot - on the Clio IV (2012+), this is typically a small rectangular access point near the shifter base, often on the right side of the shifter console.
- If there is a cover cap over the override slot, carefully pry it off using a flathead screwdriver or trim tool.
- Insert a flathead screwdriver, key, or similar thin tool into the override slot.
